Problems encountered on both D500 and D700 GPUs
One of the Mac Pro’s flagship properties is the powerful GPU suite on the unit which allows user renders to be processed in a fraction of the time. However, it derailed on a bumpy road with the new 10.9.3 “Mavericks” update. Issues are, to name a few, crashing during rendering, graphical artifacts, runaway processes during renders and so on.
Applications known to be affected with this bug (so far) are Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro. Theoretically, any application that harnesses GPU speed to increase rendering speed is potentially in jeopardy. Both D500 and D700 GPU suites seem affected although not universally.
There is no fix at the moment, only two workarounds. One is to use software rendering only and the other is OS downgrade to 10.9.2. Apple, Blackmagic and Adobe stated that they are investigating the issue while AMD hasn’t made any statements.
